This is especially true if you have separate mobile URLs or dynamic serving mobile sites, in which case you will need to ensure that your meta descriptions and title tags are optimised, you have strong headlines for your pages, and that your content is the same on the desktop version for your site.

It is also important to keep in mind how important structured data is. Your desktop version may already have these structured data embedded on its pages- something that can really help increase rich snippets in the search results pages. However, if it is not present on your mobile site, then you are likely losing these rich snippets along with the contributions they tend to have on your click-through rate.
